I'd been moping about Oshitari's birthday being a wider spread from Shishido and Atobe's, but this was so worth the wait. The way you characterized Oshitari was spot-on: you captured the essence of him as provided by canon and delved further. Great, great job with this.

Also, I loved the background you weaved into the story about Shishido, Atobe, and Oshitari before they were good friends. I have my own take on what happened, but yes, yes this is so right.

Food and beer and Atobe's eyes all happy and proud. And Shishido, his dirty laugh and his big, dog heart. He feeds Dog under the table, the way he always does – the way Shishido always looks out for the underdog.

This line was tremedously beautiful. *__* The description was succinct but effective, and I'm really glad you made that remark after the dash. I don't think I would have understood the significance on my own.
